M5 - Globular cluster in Serpens
Object # 4 Object Name:M5
Other Names:NGC 5904
RA:15:18:33.80 Dec:02:05:00.00
Constellation:Serpens Season:Summer
Magnitude:5.7 Type:Globular Cluster
Description:
M5 is a fairly easy binoculars object, even from the city. In fact the moon was up when I did my binocular observation. The only difficulty in finding it is that most of the stars that you'd normally use to find it aren't visible to the unaided eye. Using binoculars it's fairly easy, if you start at Arcturus and then follow the stars as the lines in the second map below shows.
