A shortage of Mcintosh toffee required me to find a butter toffee recipe so I could make my Rice Krispie squares. This is quick and easy. Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup corn syrup
325 ml can sweet condensed milk
1 1/4 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions:

1. Melt butter in a large saucepan
2. Stir in remaining ingredients
3. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring constantly
4. If you use a candy thermometer, the temperature of the mixture should reach about 260F. I simply let it boil for a few minutes. Longer cooking time yields harder toffee.
5. Pour into a greased pan and let cool.

It is important to stir the mixture constantly or it will stick to the pan.
