Myths of the political right

The political right of this and most countries hates unions. They blame them for everything from job losses to hemorrhoids. It is astounding how much the right blames unions for problems. This editorial in the National Post shows how extensive the mythos against unions goes in the political right.

Now at this point it is important to note that the RCMP is not unionized and is currently not permitted by legislation to unionize. That is being challenged in the courts, but for the time being the RCMP does not have a union. So to repeat to ensure that everyone is clear on this (because I know some conservatives have issues with anything simple that gets in the way of their ideology) the RCMP are NOT unionized.

Which begs the question, why is former commissioner and Tory party hack William Elliott blaming the RCMP union for preventing him from punishing bad Mounties? In case you missed it, the RCMP does not have a union. There may be rules for punishing Mounties, but these would have been set up by the force and not some non-existent union. What is even more confusing is that the National Post editors seem to imply that the RCMP is unionized.

How bad does a collective delusion have to be? Are there problems in our national police force? Yes. Is it the RCMP union's fault, well no because again there is no RCMP union. It is pure and utter fiction generated by a Harper patronage hack in order to hide his incompetence at running the organization. The problem is that the con-bots that seem to inhabit cyberspace are going to start telling the world that the evul RCMP union is ruing the force. A bare faced lie since, if you've missed it there is no RCMP union. What does one do in the face of such ignorance and hatred?
