Can't Microsoft get anything right?

You misunderstand - Microsoft never gets things wrong - they always "embrace and extend" standards. Apparently, they have decided to "embrace and extend" colour rendering in IE with a new policy that randomly picks Dark Blue as a default when IE encounters an X11-style colour name.

(I'd put good odds that behaviour changes from IE 5 to IE 6, just for giggles.)
