Welcome to Evilness Flag flap and media attendance – controversy or diversion?
Authored by: Anonymous onSaturday, April 29 2006 @ 05:57 MDT
I'd put odds on the diversion argument. So far the HarperCrit has been
amazingly blatant in his ham-fisted approach to managing governance. The CPC
really does seem to believe that the voters are idiots. (granted, with their roots
in Alberta, should anyone be surprised?)
Someone should remind him to leave his plants in the living room - where at least they can be decorative. - Grog http:// crystalgaze2.blogspot.com

Keep the media out of perrsonal tragedy
Authored by: Anonymous onSunday, April 30 2006 @ 08:11 MDT
I'm of the opinion that this is somewhat like the Calgary Flame on the tower. If you do it for every incident or event it loses it's meaning. I know there are going to be people who are self-centered enough to think it is all about dissing themselves and their families, and others who are challenging this only because that's what their party does (challenge everything for the opposite of what the other guys do) The timing certainly makes it look suspicious, and I don't know jack about the MP's who are against the motion. I do know there are a lot of people who are against this just to be the opposite of what the government wants. Heck, I think even Harper did this at once point (rallied for the lowering of flags against the governments wish to keep them raised). Personally I think keeping the media out of the return of soldiers is a good idea. I would hate to think some photographer got an award for an exceptional shot of a mother crying over the remains of their son. However, there are also allusions that the military is gettting a funding boost in the budget, maybe even the forcing through of some helicopters for once. How long has it been since they were supposed to have been purchased? Ten years? Twenty? This may be a distraction to keep that going through unnoticed. Get our army back in the game by getting them some shiney new equipment. That's the only way we are ever going to take over the states. er... uh, yeah... Go oilers!
