You may now call me God-Emperor

Crünchy ToastOr more accurately Commanding Officer. At a ceremony last night, presided over by the Lieutenant-Governor, command of my cadet unit changed over from the previous CO to me. This means that more of my free time will be sucked up by the cadet organization for the next three years. I am looking forward to the new challenge though, as I can now provide a different direction for the unit, should I see fit. It is also the culmination of a nearly 20 year career as a reservist. That being said, Mrs. Evil still laughs when I say that I'm thinking of retiring from the CF when my tenure as CO is done.

Moving done!

Crünchy ToastWell as of Wednesday, Mrs. Evil and I have finished our move. We are exhausted but are happy with our new home. Now just the task of unpacking lies ahead, but that can wait till later next week.

Moving

Crünchy ToastWell, we have the new house, and have been slowly moving for the past week. As of this morning we have most of the living room, dining room and library moved. Tonight we're moving the rest of the furniture and the washer and dryer. The phone switches over today and the cable (with the internet connection) switched last Sunday. I can't wait for it to be over.

So they gave me a medal.

Crünchy ToastLast night Mrs. Evil and I went to a ceremony where I and 36 other Albertans received the Alberta Centennial Medal from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. Now until the ceremony I only had a vague idea as to why I was receiving this honour. I knew that my commanding officer had recommended that the Lieutenant Governor nominate me for the medal, as he had told me as such (my CO is also an aide-de-camp to the Lieutenant Governor). I also knew that I was to get the medal, having received a letter from the Lieutenant Governor's office telling me as such. It wasn't until last night, however that I learned why.

What a week it has been.

Crünchy ToastIt's been quite a week here at Castle Evil. First off, it looks like Mrs. Evil and myself have purchased a new house. One that is larger than our current townhouse. It's only a couple of blocks from where we are now and is on a quiet cul-de-sac. That was Sunday/Monday.

New Year Starts

Crünchy Toast don\'t know if it\'s just because I\'ve spent so much time in school as both a student and now as a teacher, but the beginning of September always seems like the real start of the new year. The actual New Year\'s day just seem like an artificial construct by comparison (yes, I know that they both are arbitrary dates).

Vacation time

Crünchy ToastWell I've been off on vacation, which is why I've not written much here of late. Two trips were on offering for me. The first trip, Mrs. Evil and I went to Halifax, NS. My second trip was a solo backpacking trip in Banff. Both were wonderful trips.

Damn Flu

Crünchy ToastMonday I came down with the flu. Aches, pains, fever of 39C (102F). I foolishly went to work Tuesday afternoon where my team ganged up on me at the end of the day and told be to stay home Wednesday. At least today the fever\'s down and I\'m not quite so achy... blech...

Not a good sign.

Crünchy ToastSo I\'m starting my car this morning to go to work and a large cloud of blue smoke was produced from the my car\'s exhaust. This can\'t be good. The smoke quickly subsided but alas I think my 14 year old car is reaching the end of its useful life.

Spring Break!

Crünchy ToastOne of the nice things about being a teacher is I get to go on spring break like the kids. The nicer thing about working at AADAC is that I don\'t have a ton of work to catch up on. So I\'ve been working on the model RR, wiring up the computer controls. Mrs. Evil and I also took a trip to Edmonton which was nice and relaxing.
