Kettle meet pot

During question period yesterday we had this outburst from our Prime Minister:
When the Leader of the Opposition is able to stand in uniform and serve his country, then I will care about his opinion of the performance of the Minister of National Defence.
This from a man who's never served a day in uniform himself. In fact he goes on to say so:
Mr. Speaker, I will just say that it is true I have never served in the armed forces. I consider that an experience that I have missed in my life, but I can say that I have always lived and worked and paid my taxes in this country.
Ok, he did pay his taxes. Way to give till it hurts.

It's rich that someone with that kind of military record is complaining about the military record of another MP. It's even richer given that as a percentage of caucus, the NDP have more of their members having had previous military service. This statement shows three things, one Harper tends not to think before he speaks, and that he's a bully and hypocrite. These are not qualities that make for even a mediocre prime minister. Given his tendency to these kind of outbursts, Harper needs to have a good, long, hard look in the mirror over the summer break if he wants any chance of electoral success.

For the record, I have served my country as a reserve officer for 18 years. So I expect no whining from the Tory apologists on this account. I have also written the PM expressing my displeasure over the incident. I don't expect a response given the grand Alberta Tory tradition of not answering letters.
