The lies just keep on coming...

Jason ramblingHow do you tell if Stephen Harper or one of his MP's are lying? It would seem it's when their lips are moving. So far this week we have Labour Minister Jean-Pierre Blackburn claiming that he spent less on flights than his predecessor, and being caught in that lie by a simple web search. Then today, during question period, we have Stephen Harper lying about what the language commissioner said in his report. It's getting to the point where I'd require independent verification if a Tory were to sate the time.

Someone needs to tell Harper and his merry band of liars that if you're going to use the Big Lie strategy, you shouldn't continually tell lies that are easily falsified. It's not like this is even the first time they've done it. It's as if Stephen Harper is desperately trying to destroy what little credibility he has left. I suspect it has a lot to do with desperation. The polls aren't good and as time goes on they're not going to get better so the Tories are desperate to change that. They seem to have no policy left so lying about how bad they're doing is all they have left.

Which isn't going to help them come next election since people will simply think that what the Tories are saying and promising are lies. Now admittedly most of us think that politician is synonymous with liar and how much actual damage the Tories will see from this at the ballot box is yet to be seen. There will be an effect though. Be it with Conservative supporters switching to other parties or even just not voting Conservative by staying home the core of the Conservative support will slowly get whittled away with each lie.

In Alberta, probably not much. Elsewhere in Canada, that could be a very interesting discussion.

I just cannot believe how inept this lot are - a year and a half in, and they've run out of script, so the ugliness is starting to surface. {Not surprising, but disappointing}
