Oh - a fishing expedition. I'd do two things:

1) Tell the low-life to take a long walk off a short pier

2) Start screaming at the Law Society of Alberta.

You didn't have _any_ contract with him - legally or commercially. Billing you
for services rendered (none) has to be a breach of the ethics and practice
guidelines of the Law Society.

If he's going to be a pain in the ass, you might as well return the favour.
(Besides, I doubt this is the first time this sleazeball has tried this stunt)
