HET615 - Filtering the Sky
Project report for HET615 - Filtering the Sky project. Abstract: We present a method of performing searches for elemental emission lines without the use of spectroscopy. Through the use of a combination of wide and narrow band filters and a standard astronomical CCD imager, the detection of specific emission lines can be performed. This could result in possible cost and time savings over spectroscopic methods. A method of narrow band filter synthesis is also presented as a method of detecting emission lines for which a specific filter is unavailable.
